Only released for handheld systems, this game appears different than the home console games. The levels have a more linear look, with the 3D scenes being only in buildings. If you remember the Mermaidman and Barnacleboy storyline, you will recognize that most of the villains from the show take place as boss battles.

The music, animations, and overall feel are typical of that of handheld games of its time. This game takes place in the dreams of Spongebob, Patrick, and Plankton. You get to play as all three of them in each of their own dreams. The game has the feel of the traditional platformer while including other unique game modes such as racing and flying. Spongebob drives around Bikini Bottom and ends up in the mouth of the Alaska Bull Worm, Patrick transformed into a superhero, and Plankton transforms a Krabby Patty into a huge monster.

All of their dreams end up connected and make for a wild, new storyline. This game follows the plot of the episode of the same title.

Krabs, and Plankton are all playable in this game. The player is guided by a series of minigames and small levels as the story progresses. Some of the games are unique to each character and their abilities, while some include a game where all of them are included such as when they sing inside of the bus. There is less of an open world concept, as some of the smaller levels have a birds-eye view approach and are more of a puzzle adventure type.

For those that remember specific episodes of the show well, this is definitely an enjoyable game. These memories include when he first met Sandy, got his job at the Krusty Krab, when he got lost in Rock Bottom, etc. There are also cute little quizzes at each loading screen to test how much of the show you remember. If you love reminiscing about the old episodes, this is the game to play. Similar to how Creature From the Krusty Krab was, but this game is completely kart-based.

After Spongebob fails to get his license again, he is scammed by a fake instructor who teaches him to drive recklessly, hitting other cars instead of driving safely. Mostly composed of mini-game modes, the player has multiple objectives to beat other cars in a race, crashing into other cars to collect their parts, and to finish the race in a certain time.
